Tommy attends a party!

We had a Christmas party at work today for all the kids, and Tommy... had a lot of fun. For the most part. When he wasn't hiding from all the other kids, anyway. He did need occasional quiet breaks, like the one we see here, to keep him from entirely freaking out. Still, all things considered, it did go very well, and I'm very proud of him for not bursting into hysterical sobbing at any point.

I have the feeling that school's going to be... a little overwhelming for him, at least at first.

Tommy destroys his foes!

Tommy can be seen here in the brutal aftermath of the destruction an enemy. Or, alternatively, he's eating cake. Take your pic.

(Hard to believe he's three years old, eh?)

Tommy sings for your entertainment

Let it never be said that Tommy is not a benevolent overlord! Here he is, dancing for his subjects' entertainment! Of course, it's a photo, not a video, so you can't actually experience the singing, but rest assured that it was a great song indeed.

Tommy looks after a friend

Tommy's friend was famished, and being a housebear, had no ready supply of beehives to raid for their delicious honey. Tommy graciously shared his food.

Tommy masters dance

Here we see Tommy demonstrating his mastery of self-expression through movement, aka dancing. Either that or he's just stepped out of that box behind him. Whatever. He's one nimble little kid either way.

Tommy is blurry once again

A little-known fact about Tommy: He's deeply, deeply concerned about the biosphere. He recently spent a day inspecting a marsh in New Brunswick to ensure that the wildlife was doing well. He didn't have a lot of time to spend, obviously, so it was a hurried tour. Still, what he saw pleased him, and he declared his satisfaction with the ecological balance of this marsh.

Tommy explores human flight

You can see here Tommy's early experiments in human flight. The safety harness wasn't actually necessary, of course, but Tommy felt that his loyal subjects might worry too much if he flew without it. As you can see, Tommy was very pleased with the success of his test flight and is looking forward to sharing his technique with hand-picked lieutenants.

Tommy and his trusty steed

Some generals inspire their troops from horseback. Tommy feels those people lack vision, and instead rides his dinosaur around on official duties. In this case, Tommy was inspecting the facilities at a local playground. As you can see, the inspection has gone well to this point.

And here we have a picture of Tommy's mommy, for no other reason than to show off how cute she is. Ta-da!

The colour of chaos

Tommy believes that controlling his minions through fear alone is ineffective, and has chosen instead to inspire them through brainwashing. Here you can see him preparing some of his trademark propaganda posters.

Dragon!

Now you know Tommy's terrible secret: When angered, he transforms into a mighty dragon and lays waste to all around him!

Also, Dani painted his face to look like a dragon last week. Tommy rather enjoyed that.

Tommy tries to hint

Tommy got to go to the agriculture museum last weekend, and was so excited about the animals that he's been hinting ever since that he wants to go back. At one point, "hinting" took the form of lining up all his Little People animals on the stairs and telling us at the top of his lungs that he didn't want to play with little animals, he wanted to see BIG ANIMALS.

Tommy is not subtle.

Tommy has a message for Mommy

Tommy would like everyone to know about the important message he has for his Mommy.

Tommy sings for you

To make up for the long delay between uploads, here is a video of Tommy singing. Sarah Boyle, eat your heart out!

The lyrics, in case you're curious:

Twinkle, twinkle, dinosaur
How you trample, how you roar
Splattered by a meteorite
Turned to oil o'er many a night
Twinkle, twinkle, dinosaur
How you trample, how you roar!

- lyrics by Joel Burrows

Tommy is startled by sheep

Tommy got to go on an Easter egg hunt this morning, which was a lot of fun. He found almost half the eggs without any prompting at all, which is pretty darn good for someone who's not even two and a half years old. He was rather surprised to open some of the eggs and find animals. This one contained a sheep, which he found particularly exciting.

Also: Three updates in a week? I've clearly gone MAD!!! with the camera(s). Either that or there have just been a lot of good photo ops in the last few days. Whatever. The upshot is that you might want to scroll down to see if there are some updates you haven't seen yet. Especially the laundry video. TOMMY COMMANDS YOU TO WATCH THE LAUNDRY VIDEO!!!

Tommy is put to work

Tommy's caused us so much work that we decided it was time to return the favour. We've started his period of enforced servitude with laundry duty, as you can see here.

And just in case you think this is some sort of anomaly and this picture just happens to look like Tommy's doing laundry, I took a video.

We can only hope this enthusiasm lasts...

Tommy has a friend

Tommy's friend Graham came over for a visit on Saturday. The two of them played all day, with hardly any sharing issues at all. They've even reached the stage where they actually play together sometimes, particularly if the tent has been pulled out -- they can play peek-a-boo for half an hour straight! Mostly they just look at each other and laugh and then shriek and then laugh some more. It's very cute. And, as you can see, they quite enjoy having each other around.

Tommy masters architecture

Here we can see Tommy learning all about architecture. He built this tower practically by himself, with only a little help from Daddy. As you can see, he's very proud of it. What you can't see, because it happened just a few seconds after the picture was taken, was Tommy testing the tower's strength... by pushing it over and laughing hysterically. That's Tommy.. Creator and destroyer.

You can also see the remnants of pink eye in this picture. His eyes were a lot worse a couple days ago. Poor kid could barely open his left eye on Thursday. :-( But he does seem to be feeling better now. So that's good. His eyes have improved a lot even since this picture was taken earlier today.

Tommy enjoys fine literature

Tommy took some time out of his busy schedule to enjoy one of the finer things in life -- great literature. I forget what exactly it was he was reading, something about animals -- Animal Farm, perhaps? At any rate, as you can see, it was enjoyable and engrossing, undoubtedly one of the greatest works of literature modern civilisation is capable of producing.

Tommy likes to share other people's stuff

Tommy decided to disguise himself the other day as a turtle. "Why," you may be asking, "would Tommy want to disguise himself as a turtle?" That's an excellent question. Really, only Tommy would be able to answer it. But at least part of it is because his friend Graham dressed up as a turtle for Hallowe'en and Tommy loves to look at those pictures, and we were over at Graham's house a couple weeks ago...

Tommy ponders the future

While visiting his friend Graham today, Tommy was faced with a number of difficult questions. You can see here Tommy pondering his first conundrum: whether Earth Dog and Space Dog can peacefully coexist, and together made to serve his future plans for world conquest.

And here you can see the depth of Tommy's anguish over his various dilemmas -- he's so worried that half of his face has imploded! Poor kid.

Random Christmas shots

Nothing too exciting going on here, just Tommy enjoying spending time with family. I think he was starting to get a bit confused as to why Catherine was spending so much time taking pictures of him rather than playing with him, but that's OK.

And here we have Tommy demonstrating to Daddy how to impale a basket of kittens on a marker. He's trying to ensure that he has no further problems with dissidents opposing his reign.
