We put our baby in a sack

Technically it's called a papoose. Except that technically, a papoose is a child carrier, not just a sack you put them in. Whatever. We're calling it a papoose, or a sack. And it's a convenient thing to wrap Thomas in after a bath.

Valentine's and rattles

Happy 1st Valentine's Day to Tommy!

To mark the day, he was playing with his rattles. Not the ones that get velcroed around his wrist or ankle... the ones he has to pick up and remember to hold while he is shaking them. Congratulations to Thomas, he's surpassed another hurtle in his development!

Of giant heads and tiny pieces of rubber

First up: Thomas's first soother (given to him by the hospital, no less) has shuffled off this mortal coil. We'll miss that soother.

And next, Andrea keeps commenting that she thinks that my head is gigantic, because she spends most of the day looking at Thomas and doesn't see a lot of adults. So we decided to get a good shot to compare. Voila!

(Sorry about the quality of the pictures... Unfortunately, I forgot to reset the image quality on my camera before I took the pictures, so they're pretty low resolution.)

Poetry Reading

Tommy obviously doesn't get overly excited by poetry readings. I'd be disappointed but I realize that having a sure-fire way of putting him to sleep is a great thing to have up my sleeve.

(The flash of a camera, however, is not conducive to continued sleep)

The smiles have driven us MAD!!!

Thomas is learning to smile more consistently. In this photo, his smile looks really bizarrely self-satisfied. I can't even begin to think what sort of thought process is behind that smile, although for some reason it makes me think that he just stuffed a whole donut in his face and is still in the process of chewing it, and has a bunch of it stuffed in his cheek as he's smiling for the camera. Also, he looks a little drunk.

I'd just like to reassure everyone that no, we do not feed our child donuts (yet) nor do we allow him any sort of alcohol, so he certainly isn't drunk. He just looks that way.
