Thomas is learning to smile more consistently. In this photo, his smile looks really bizarrely self-satisfied. I can't even begin to think what sort of thought process is behind that smile, although for some reason it makes me think that he just stuffed a whole donut in his face and is still in the process of chewing it, and has a bunch of it stuffed in his cheek as he's smiling for the camera. Also, he looks a little drunk.
I'd just like to reassure everyone that no, we do not feed our child donuts (yet) nor do we allow him any sort of alcohol, so he certainly isn't drunk. He just looks that way.
